Are preacher sending the church out among the lost with no proper training?

Sammy Johnson had asked his parents could he join the school football team. His mother was a little hesitant because she knew that football was a contact sport that can do some real damage to a person body. She wanted Sammy to grow up and make something of his life. Baseball, basketball and volleyball she didn’t mind. She knew from watching football with Sammy and his dad that injuries had ended the careers of a lot of players. That night, both Sammy parents talked about it. “If this is something he wants to do. What we need to do is support him on it. You never know. He may be the one that turns out to be another Lawrence Taylor.” The next morning, Sammy’s father and mother gives him the ok to go join the football team if this is something he wanted to do. After the first day of practice, Sammy comes home and tells his parents, “all we did was a watch a film on tackling. A week later, Sammy comes home and tells his mom, all the coach had us do today is watch a film on catching. the following week, Sammy comes home and tells his parents, all the coach had us do today is watch a film on punting. the following week, Sammy comes home and tells his parents, all the coach had us do today is watch a film on kicking field goals. the following week, Sammy comes home and tells his parents, all the coach had us do today is watch a film on hiking the football. That Monday evening when Sammy comes home from school, his mother is in the kitchen cooking dinner. He says, “mom, we are having our first game of the season Friday and the coach was wondering if you and dad are coming?” “I’m sure we can make it, but didn’t you tell us for the last few weeks that all you did at practice was watch films?” “Yes, and your point would be?” “Did you go out on the field to practice any in the month that you were on the team?” “No, all we did was stay in and watch films and listen to the coach tell us different things.” “Sammy, do you know what will happen to you and your teammates if you go out and play against a team when you have not practice? The closest you ever been to a football field is the day your dad took you to watch the Indianapolis Colts play a scrimmage game against the Washington Redskin. You were only three years old when that happened.” I will talk to your dad, who I am sure will be happy to talk to your football coach to find out what is going on.” Even though the possibility of this event to ever take place is slim to never. Can you imagine what would happen to your son and the rest of his teammates if they were to actually step out onto a football field to play against any team without some sought of practice? Remember this the next time you are sitting there listening to your preacher preach from behind the pulpit instead of showing you how you are suppose to be out there on that field. If you wouldn't allow your child to play in a game without practice. Than don't allow yourself to be put out there to face the world without practice. Remember, when Jesus called the disciples to come follow him. He was with them, preaching and teaching them the truth and the way of life. Jesus didn’t just sit the disciples down and preach to them about the laws and the commandments. He showed them how the job was to be done. One of the best scripture teaching that comes to mind. Is from Matthew 17:14-21. Here you have a man who son has a demon in him. He brings his son to the disciples, but they could not remove the demon from the father son. So he brings his son to Jesus, and Jesus removed the demon from the son. The disciples then asked Jesus, Why could not we cast him out? And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you. Howbeit this kind goeth not out but by prayer and fasting. Can you imagine what it would have been like, if Jesus would have sent the disciples out to different part of the world without them being ready? Jesus not only taught the disciples through words, but he also taught them by doing. If we as the church are just being sat down and preached to without ever being taught, what will we gain beside knowledge? Ecclesiastes 2:26 For God giveth to a man that is good in his sight wisdom, and knowledge, and joy. I had a few people tell me, “It’s not the preacher job to teach the church how to make disciples. It’s the church job to go out and make disciples out of the people.” ****************************************…
