Long distance relationship: is it lame if the girl is the first one to come out & visit in person?

he has initiated everything else ... the plan was for him to come visit me first but then something unexpected happened and now the only way for us to meet anytime soon is if i come first. it was my idea .. we wouldn't be alone in the same house - there's other people... and he's definitely legit. i'm a young adult but when i told my parents they freaked (still live at home) because they think it is totally 'improper' for a girl to go to the guy first, etc.
