How in halo reach is this possible?

OK i was playin my bro and i lock on the falcon he was driving and fire my rocket launch at him while i was reloading he stop dead in the air and waited. i shot again and he ejected with no jet pack or nothing ( that's not the unbelievable part) he some how landed on top of the falling falcon and rode its as it fell which made my missile miss and he some how got BACK INTO THE FALCON and flew away unscratched and he wont tell me how to do it. and he does it repeatedly so it was no accident.
