How much in all fairness should i pay this guy - his given me 6 10 minutes lifts-what is an appropriate amount?

At the moment petrol/diesel is around $133.6. (Aus) Given the amount of lifts against the convenience, I would say $10 is a fair amount to pay and should leave the door open for more lifts.
