Yahoo Messenger Windows Not Appearing?

You know the little beep noises you hear when someone Yahoo IMs you? I hear that beep noise a lot.. but no messege window pop up. Are people messaging me and I dont see the window? Is there a way to stop it, or does anyone know what's going on?
