Why do some people think that Islam women are treated poorly?

A *good* husband may never do those things, but they are still condoned and legal. Not every husband is good, and they are at the liberty to do as they please. Of course there are decent Muslim men, and many Muslim women who are treated as the equals they are, but the mistreatment of women is still condoned. When polygamy, total control of women, and wife beating are eliminated, then you can ask this question and expect better answers.
